Ontario Allocates $31 Million to Combat Rise in Illegal Cannabis Stores

showcasetoronto

Ontario intends to allocate $31 million in its budget to tackle the proliferation of illegal cannabis stores and online platforms across the province. The funding, spread over three years as outlined in Ontario's Budget 2024, will bolster the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET).

Led by the Ontario Provincial Police's central enforcement unit, the PJFCET focuses on combatting illegal cannabis storefronts. The investment aims to empower the PJFCET to confront the growing presence of illicit online operators and intensify efforts to combat the production, sale, and distribution of illegal cannabis in both the digital and physical realms.
