Ontario Farmers Decry Carbon Tax, Claiming Losses in Tens of Thousands

Ontario farmers and small business proponents, alongside Premier Doug Ford, voiced strong opposition to the federal carbon tax on Tuesday. They asserted that the tax has directly resulted in significant financial losses, with thousands of dollars being drained from their pockets.


Andrew Spoelstra, who serves as the president of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture and operates a farm in the southeastern region of Hamilton, disclosed that the carbon pricing incurred a cost of $4,500 last autumn solely for drying approximately 2,500 tonnes of grain.
