showcasetoronto

Toronto city councillors have approved a measure to raise fines for over 100 parking infractions. The decision was made during a council meeting where a staff report proposing increased penalties for 125 parking-related violations was discussed. Coun. Jennifer McKelvie, chair of the Infrastructure and Environment Committee, put forth a motion amending some of the proposed penalty amounts.

Notably, fines for parking in bike lanes will rise from $150 to $200, and failure to pay the required fee at parking machines will increase from $30 to $50. These approved changes are slated to take effect on August 1st.
